히가시노 게이고의 추리소설? 그러나 이건 감동도 없고 반전도 없고 재미도 없고. 난 왜 소중한 시간을 바쳐 이 소설을 읽은 것일까. 그나마 중반을 넘어가면서 혹시나 하는 기대감에 책장이 빠르게 넘어갔었지만 너무나 뻔한 결말에 기복없는 사건들은 지루하기만 했다. 역자 후기에선 소설을 읽고 눈물을 흘렸다면 성공이라는 말을 했지만 난 글쎄올시다. 동급생에 이어 히가시노 게이고는 나와는 잘 맞지 않는다는 확신만 생겨버린 소설. 두 명의 주인공 이야기를 교차해 가며 보여주는 마치 ‘주먹이 운다’식의 구성은 신선했다.
